San Antonio Regional Hospital's Randall and Janell Lewis Emergency Department serves the community with 24-hour emergency care. Our staff is certified in advanced adult and pediatric life support for a wide range of serious injuries, diseases and conditions. For patients requiring specialized care, we are designated as a Certified Primary Stroke Center and as a STEMI Receiving Center for heart attack patients.
An Emergency Department visit can be stressful, and we’re here to offer guidance and comfort throughout the process. When you first arrive, our team members work quickly to assess your health, review your symptoms and check your vitals. A provider in triage will order any necessary testing, determine a diagnosis and discuss the plan of care with you. When it’s time for you to go home, our team will review your detailed discharge instructions and send prescription medication to the pharmacy of your choice. We also give you a copy of your lab results to review with your primary care physician. If you need to be admitted to the hospital, your care team will coordinate the transition and communicate with specialists as necessary.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go straight to the emergency room. If you have a minor injury or illness, such as the flu or a sprain, San Antonio has four urgent care locations providing same-day visits for a wide range of non-life-threatening medical issues.
