San Antonio Regional Hospital’s rating as a 2022-2023 U.S. News & World Report High Performing Hospital - Stroke indicates that San Antonio was significantly better than the national average when it comes to treating stroke patients. U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 4,300 hospitals to generate procedure and condition ratings. Fewer than 20% of U.S. hospitals were named as high performers. U.S. News & World Report assessed San Antonio’s risk-adjusted outcomes, such as 30-day mortality rate, 30-day readmission rates, and length of stay. Variables linked to a higher quality of care were also factored into the ratings. These include volume of stroke patients, nurse staffing, and specially- trained physicians. Patient satisfaction scores were also factored into the ratings.
